Pinoy Flat Track II Supported by WheeltekPosted on: September 8, 2016
It was a miracle indeed considering the strong downpour from the past few weeks, August 29 was blessed with a warm sunny weather as close to 100 entries were listed for the Pinoy Flat Track II on MX Messiah Fairgrounds.
Multi-time Philippine Motocross Champion Glenn Aguilar bagged the championship of the Production Bikes Category with his son Mclean on second. “This (Flat Track) is good for grassroots level of riders.” Said Aguilar. “This is a different discipline that will make you a better (motorcycle) rider on the road.” He added.
Sam Tamayo, a motocross champion himself, emphasized the fun in Flat Track Racing. “Crashing in the mud is fun!” says Tamayo who, joined the practice run and crashed on the muddy portion of the track, showing his students that there’s nothing to be afraid of when racing on dirt. “Rubbing elbows with your fellow racers is fun!” he added. Sam also thanked all the participants and sponsors for making the Pinoy Flat Track II successful.
Michael Eijansantos, one of the key people who revived the Flat Track scene here in the Philippines with his “Keep it Dirty” event, said that one of the great things to like about flat track racing is the “fun aspect, no competition” atmosphere. “People just race and have fun” he said.
In keeping with the true spirit of flat track racing, Wheeltek Motor Sales Corp. supported the event by providing the barbecue for all the participants. It was a great day for the family as they too brought their own barbecue and adobos to be shared with everyone and at the end of the day, it was the children who not only had so much fun but also learned how to properly ride on dirt. Teach ’em young as they say.
